A group of dedicated GTA 5 modders, frustrated by the long wait for Grand Theft Auto 6, has taken matters into their own hands by recreating part of the upcoming game's map within Rockstar's eleven-year-old title. Inspired by the 2023 trailer and the massive 2022 leak, the modding community has worked tirelessly to craft a map they believe closely mirrors the one seen in GTA 6.
GTA 6 is one of the most eagerly awaited games in the industry, with a projected release in Fall 2025. The excitement began to build after the first official trailer was released in December 2023, but Rockstar Games has since stayed silent, fueling rampant fan theories about the game's release and second trailer.
In the meantime, modders have taken it upon themselves to showcase what they believe GTA 6’s map might look like. YouTuber Dark Space has recreated part of Vice City inside GTA 5, focusing on the state of Leonida, which will feature prominently in the new game. Dark Space’s latest video presents a detailed version of Vice Beach, populated with real Miami buildings seen in the GTA 6 trailer. While this is just a small fraction of the full map, it offers an exciting preview for fans eagerly awaiting more official details.

The community has long speculated on how GTA 6’s map will compare to GTA 5’s, and Dark Space’s recreation might be one of the best demonstrations yet. In a comparison, the YouTuber shows that it takes 3 minutes and 30 seconds to fly from the southernmost point of Los Santos in GTA 5 to its northernmost point by helicopter. In contrast, crossing the newly recreated Leonida state in GTA 6 takes 6 minutes and 10 seconds, showcasing the expanded size of the map.
Though the modded map blueprint is based on leaks and community assumptions, it's important to note that the only official map glimpse comes from the trailer. While Dark Space's work is impressive, the final GTA 6 map may differ in some ways. What we do know for certain is that Rockstar is bringing players back to the neon-lit streets of Vice City, set in the fictional state of Leonida, filled with the classic mix of nightlife and wild antics fans have come to love.
