On the 6th of April 2024, the CUPEF-FLT Global Leadership Training featured an amazing Trainer, Ms Jana Wessendorf, a Swiss-German citizen with a postgraduate degree in Business Administration and Environmental Management. She has been working as a Finance Manager for 15 years in the private industry with international team before joining the humanitarian cause in 2018. Since then, she has been working as Project Manager or Coordinator for Human Resources/Finance for Médicins Sans Frontierés in Syria, Nigeria, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and recently spent 24 months in Iraq's Sinjar.
Jana is passionate about nature and ecosystem as she dedicates her time to environmental causes advocating for an increased focus towards nature and wildlife protection and to sustain the alpine farming tradition in Switzerland.
She is author of hiking guide about the Italian part of Switzerland ("Tälerhüpfen im Tessin") and contributed with a dialogue essay to reflections of young Germans born in the German Republic in the aftermath of a political and societal overthrow upon the fall of the Iron Curtain in Europe at the beginning of the 1990's ("Dritte Generation Ostdeutschland: Wer wir sind. Was wir wollen").
Offwork, she volunteers as a mountain guide to for the Swiss Alpine Club.
Ms Jana brought her wealth of experiences having worked in the humanitarian space and shared with young leaders important steps in conflict prevention and resolution. As the world grapples with challenges of unprecedented conflicts and wanton armed struggles, it's is crucial for young people to be equipped with sufficient skills and knowledge needed to proactively respond to and mitigate situations that threatens global peace and security in all its forms.
On behalf CUPEF-FLT, we congratulate Ms Jana Wessendorf for a great session and we look forward to having her again in the future.
